Creating SmartArt
First lesson — read a sample before you enroll.

Creating SmartArt SmartArt is PowerPoint's built-in diagram tool, designed to turn text or data into visually compelling graphics — without requiring any design expertise. What Is SmartArt? **SmartArt** graphics are pre-designed diagrams ideal for illustrating relationships, processes, hierarchies, and cycles. A common example is an organisational chart. SmartArt behaves just like other objects: you can cut, copy, paste, move, and resize it. Inserting SmartArt There are two ways to add SmartArt to a slide: 1. Click **Insert → SmartArt** and choose a diagram type from the gallery. 2. Click the **SmartArt content placeholder** icon (if the slide layout includes one). The SmartArt is inserted and the **SmartArt Tools – Design** contextual tab appears. The SmartArt Tools – Design Tab This tab contains these key groups: **Create Graphic** — modify shapes and add or remove items. The Right to Left command reverses the diagram's direction. **Layouts** — change the diagram type. **SmartArt Styles** — change the color scheme and visual style. **Reset** — restore the diagram's default formatting. **Properties** — add or modify alternative text. Adding Text to SmartArt Click a text area within the diagram, or click **SmartArt Tools – Design → Edit Text**. Your view switches to a bulleted outline — each bullet corresponds to one shape. Type your entries and click outside the diagram when done. PowerPoint automatically
