Customize General, Language, and Formula Options The **Excel Options dialog box** (opened via **File → Options**) is the central hub for personalizing how Excel looks and behaves. It contains 10 categories. The General Category The General category controls overall appearance and default behaviors: **Show Mini Toolbar on selection** – Toggles the mini toolbar on/off when selecting cells. **Enable Live Preview** – Shows formatting changes before you apply them. **ScreenTip style** – Controls the detail level of command tooltips. **Default font and font size** – Sets the starting font for all new workbooks. **Default view for new sheets** – Chooses the view (Normal, Page Layout, etc.) for new sheets. **Include this many sheets** – Sets the number of worksheets in each new workbook (default: 1). **User name** – The name associated with your copy of Microsoft Office. **Office theme** – Choose between Colorful, Dark Gray, and White themes. The Language Category Set the **display language** (interface buttons and menus) and **authoring/proofing language** (spell check and grammar). If you work in multiple languages, you can add additional editing languages here. The Formulas Category Customize how formulas behave: **Calculation options** – Choose *Automatic* (default), *Automatic Except for Data Tables*, or *Manual*. **Working with formulas** – Set R1C1 reference style, enable/disable Formula AutoComplete. **Error Checking** – Toggle background error checking and change the color
