Tools, Breakout Rooms, and Engaging All Learners A compelling virtual presentation is more than great delivery — the content, structure, and tools you choose all shape the experience your participants have. Selecting the right presentation tools and designing activities that reach every type of learner are critical success factors. Presentation Tools Many of the tools used to build face-to-face presentations translate directly to the virtual world: **PowerPoint, Google Slides, and Keynote** — These platforms allow you to build slide shows that *support* your delivery. The key word is support. Slides should be prompts, not scripts. Your audience is there to interact with you, not to watch you read bullet points. **Canva** — An online design tool for creating polished graphics that combine photos, text, shapes, and backgrounds. Available in free and paid versions, Canva can elevate the visual quality of your presentations significantly. Remember: your audience wants to hear *you*. Keep slides simple, visual, and focused on reinforcing your spoken message. Using Breakout Rooms Breakout rooms are one of the most powerful engagement tools available in virtual platforms. They allow you to divide participants into smaller groups for focused discussion, collaborative problem-solving, or topic exploration — then bring everyone back together to share insights. To make breakout sessions effective: Assign a **moderator** to each room to keep discussion on track.
